How do low-carbon projects work?
Low-carbon projects remove/reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere

Emissions = climate change
Our climate is stable when greenhouse gases are balanced in the atmosphere.
We’ve knocked it off balance by increasing greenhouse gas emissions and decreasing greenhouse gas sinks.

We’re emitting more than ever
Kiwi household emissions have risen by 11.8% since 2007 and we each emit 1.8x more than the global average per year.
Even if we do our best to reduce our own emissions, we can only reduce so much. It's impossible to reduce our emissions to zero.

Low-carbon projects can help
Low-carbon projects reduce and remove emissions from the atmosphere. Many of these projects need funding to go ahead.
They can include things like forestry, renewable energy, biogas, cookstoves and clean water projects.

If we help fund them
As a type of climate finance, projects that meet certain criteria may be issued offsets to sell through regulated marketplaces based on the emissions they can save.
Purchasing offsets and helping fund these projects lets us verifiably reduce global emissions. Fewer emissions = a more stable future climate.
How does the collective work?
We put your donations to work, funding low-carbon projects for a better future for all of us

How do co-benefits work?
Co-benefits are the bonus positive externalities we get when we take climate action
We all share the same atmosphere, so it doesn’t matter where in the world we take climate action.
Why not act in parts of the world where we can have the biggest splash?
